Black Political Thought: LaHeather Wilson's Seven-Month Old Baby Son Left in Car Overnight in Texas Found Dead, Mother Picked Up Three Sons from Daycare, Forgot One in Car

I confess that I'm hoping that this negligent mother is not of African descent...

Villager -- I am hoping the same thing. I am trying to find more information
on this on a Texas newspaper's website.

Wayne, yes she is. I now have a picture of her on my blog. Shameful and sad.
This baby didn't deserve the fate he suffered.

I was thinking with that with a name like LaHeather, chances were slim that she wasn't of AA decent. Looks like Janet has confirmed that she is indeed black.

Barring mental illness, there is no way that a mother could forget her baby in the car overnight unless she was on drugs or something. Either way, she should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

And if an unfortunate incident (such as being beaten with a bag of nickels) befell her while in prison, I would have no objections.

This kind of thing disgusts me...

Okay, having ONE kid, I don't know how people have more than that. Gross negligence, yes, but motherhood made me brain dead. Almost burnt my house down by leaving stuff on the stove, etc. etc. It doesn't say if she's a single mother or not, but if she is, what was she thinking? And all boys, too.

Are you sure there's not more to the story...50 degree lows doesn't seem like enough to kill a child with no other health problems. Terrible, though. Breaks my heart. I'm gonna have to go wake my son up just to give him a big hug and kiss.

These stories are so sad...for everyone involved. I won't be one to judge...I wasn't there, but it's just a terrible situation. Can you imagine the guilt that this woman will have to live with.

I gotta be honest here. I agree with Diane, motherhood can cause many o your brain cells to just not click right. But, something about this story just doesn't settle well with me. With two other children ages 3 and 6, I find it hard to believe they didn't remind "momma" that the baby was still in the car. Just doesn't sound right to me.

I know her personally. Indeed there are so many more unreported facts. Please don't judge her, that must be left to God. This is such a terrible, terrible tragedy and is incredibly painful for all involved.

Faith, it's being reported on the Nancy Grace Show that your friend was popping painkillers all day and then went home and had some Chardonnay. Wait, there's more, apparently she has a history of drinking -- DUI, hitting a stationary object, multiple brushes with the law. Hmmm, seems to me that something terrible was bound to happen. I am really sorry that an innocent baby lost his life in the midst of this mess. Her actions were reckless and irresponsible. I would hate to be in her shoes mired in so much grief from her actions. So, if there are more unreported facts, share them with my readers because it's coming out in trickles -- 911 call released, her picture on TV, a video of her walking to the police car and it was quite visible that she was limping from a busted knee as being reported as well.

Know before you pass judgement. You don't have the entire story I know this woman and she loved her children and lived for them honestly. The news spins a story the way they want to spend it but if you've read the story the news has put out there you have to be left with questions and that's because there's information that the news stations are not mentioning.

    Agreed!

By the way, I have also written an update on this case. You can find it here:

I also know her personally; she lived around the block from me as a child. I feel that when you become a mother that you know when something is not right. I pray there is something out there that can explain how this happened. I pray for the family and for Shea as she endures this tragedy. How can any of us judge her without knowing that God will judge us? Pray for her you needs to be uplifted not beat up!
